The First 5 LA Board of Commissioners is comprised of 13 members. The board includes members nominated by each of the Los Angeles County Supervisors, the L.A. County Departments of Public Health and Mental Health, and the L.A. County Office of Education.

The 13-member Board also includes representatives from other children and families organizations throughout the county. The Board of Commissioners meets on the second Thursday of each month at 1:30 PM at the First 5 LA offices. All meetings are open to the public and agendas are posted 72 hours in advance.
