Program Funding: School Readiness, Partnerships For Families
 
The agency provides child care, clothing, counseling services, family life education, and youth services to families who live in the Los Angeles area, including downtown Los Angeles, East Los Angeles, Pico Union, South Central Los Angeles. Services are provided at six locations; ( see the site list for details). Geographic restrictions apply for some services.

Partnerships for Families
PFF will serve pregnant women, pregnant teens and families with children 0-5 serve is the Metro North service area, within Spa 4 of Los Angeles County. Services Provided: Case Management, Crisis Counseling, Parenting Education, Food And shelter, In-home visitation, Information and referral, Crisis intervention 24/7 availability, Transportation resources, Family Advocacy, Support Groups Community Outreach and Networking.

Partnerships for Families
The Partners United for Families Collaborative (Para Los Niños, St. Anne's, Hollygrove, and Plaza Community Center) will address the barriers to success for DCFS referred families and pregnant women within the Metro North service area in SPA 4. Services will include Case Management, Crisis Counseling, Parenting Education, Food And shelter, In-home visitation, Information and referral, Crisis intervention 24/7 availability, Transportation resources, Family Advocacy, Support Groups Community Outreach and Networking. In addition, the collaborative will ensure capacity building through trainings and community engagement techniques to increase the communities' knowledge of the services and will perform outreach to the community to increase awareness of child abuse and neglect. This is a five year grant.

School Readiness Program
The purpose of this grant is to promote the idea of school readiness by creating centers and programs that offer an array of services, including early care and education, health and social services, parenting education and support. Programs will be responsive to local needs and will contain elements to improve schools' readiness for children. The target population of this program is children 0-5 and their families living in the 90033 zip code of Los Angeles County. The target population is 92% Latino, 4% Asian, 2% Caucasian, 1% African American, and 1% other ethnicities. 85% of the population speaks Spanish as their primary home language, and only 43% of the total zip code population is fluent in English. The unemployment rate is 13.3%. 34% of residents receive public aid, and 39% of the population lives below poverty level, there are 4,926 children age 0 to 5 in the zip code (10% of total population). The average family size is 4.27 people and 23% of children live in single female-headed households. (2000 U.S. Census). This program is located in SPA 4. The 5 primary sites where program services are being offered Mexican American Opportunity Foundation, 1st Street Elementary School, Sheridan Street Elementary School, Evergreen Elementary School, and Bridge Street Elementary School. All School Readiness grants are 48 months in length across 5 fiscal years. Major program activities includes: Parents as Teachers Program (PAT), the case management team will link children ages 3 & 4 in need of preschool to existing preschool programs, special education screening for children 0 to 5, implement an emergent literacy enhancement of an existing full day preschool classroom including the creation of a lending library, a family advocate will provide parenting education classes to 20 parents of children 0 to 5, intensive case management and medical insurance enrollment will institute a workshop series that involves preschool administrators and lead teachers from each collaborative partner school, as well as community parent participants, and a Community Advisory Committee.
