Alejandra Albarran Moses, PhD, is an early childhood expert with over 25 years of equity-oriented professional experience in the field of early childhood.

Dr. Albarran Moses began her career as a developmental interventionist, throughout Ventura and LA Counties. She provided direct intervention and developmental assessments to children birth to age three, with developmental delays.

For 13 years, Dr. Albarran Moses has taught child development across the California State University system, and at Loyola Marymount. In this role, she helped guild students to connect theory to practice and to think critically about the implications of the course topic on children’s lives.

Dr. Albarran Moses is currently the Early Childhood Strategic Initiatives Program Manager for the City of Long Beach. She led the development of the City-wide Early Childhood Education Strategic Plan which served as a blueprint to address the fractured ECE System throughout the Covid-19 pandemic. She was a member of the Homelessness Emergency response, speaking up for children and families on the brink of or experiencing homelessness.  In her role, she works with partners to address children, families, and ECE provider’s needs in ensuring that all children have access to the resources and supports they need to have a strong start in life.

In addition to her professional positions, Dr. Albarran Moses serves on the board of local nonprofits and organizations that have a direct impact on young children, parenting, and the early childhood field. Dr. Albarran Moses has served at the Vice Chair of the Long Beach Early Childhood Education Committee for the past four years. She is currently serving as the Chair of the Los Angeles Policy Roundtable to Early Care and Education.

Dr. Albarran Moses earned a PhD in Education from University of California, Irvine, with a dual focus in Learning, Cognition & Development and Social Policy & Educational Context. She earned a Master of Arts in Educational Psychology, with a focus in Early Childhood Education, from California State University, Northridge, and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from California Lutheran University.

Among all her roles and responsibilities, Dr. Albarran Moses’ favorite role is mom to two amazing children, Sofia and Nicolas.
