Dear, Los Angeles County Community,

First and foremost, I hope this message finds you and your loved ones safe. Our hearts go out to the members of our community and their loved ones who have been impacted by the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles County. We also want to acknowledge and extend gratitude to all first responders who risk their lives to save lives and protect homes, properties and the safety of our neighborhoods.

The unprecedented scope of the most destructive wildfires in our state’s history demand swift and strategic action, working together towards rebuilding, recovery and most importantly the healing of the trauma experienced by our communities, families and our youngest children.

This week, the First 5 LA team is connecting with our grantee partners to understand the pressing needs of organizations supporting families with young children throughout the county. We understand the strain that many community-based organizations are facing, and our goal is to be a resource and a partner in rebuilding.

For families and community-based organizations looking for support at this time, First 5 LA has created a dedicated resource page to help partners navigate and access the available services related to the fires impacting Los Angeles County, including resources for families with young children, mental health services and how to access basic necessities. This webpage will be updated as new information becomes available.

From addressing immediate needs to planning for long-term support, First 5 LA commits to working in partnership, steadfast in the belief that we build and strengthen our collective resiliency when we come together in community.

Thank you for your partnership and dedication to the children and families of Los Angeles County during this critical time.

Stay safe,

Karla Pleitéz Howell
First 5 LA President and CEO
