Dr. Byrd earned his doctorate at Pepperdine University in 1994. Dr. Byrd has over 25 years clinical experience in working with children and families both as a private practitioner and as a member of several renowned L.A. County-contracted community mental health organizations where, in addition to providing therapeutic services to disadvantaged populations, he supervised clinicians in training. Dr. Byrd was also involved in the development of early intervention programs and services to meet the needs of youth and families in several community-based organizations.
Collaborating with key partners that serve children, youth and families has been the cornerstone of Dr. Byrd’s philosophy in his advocacy role. Dr. Byrd has always been mindful of the value and importance of inter-agency communication and engagement, in order to ensure successful implementation and delivery of quality mental health services throughout the county.
